Dylan's First Vacation

Our vacation began on Thursday morning when we left for Spokane. We traveled all the way from Marysville to Moses Lake before we needed to stop for Dylan to eat. We then drove straight to Post Falls where we met up with the Soumas family. On Thursday evening, we visited Aunt Melody, Uncle Dick, Aunt Irene, and Danni. We had a great steak dinner at Dick and Melody's. Lynette started to feel sick on the way back to Post Falls, and she later called the Everett Clinic. The doctor on call diagnosed her illness over the phone and called in a prescription to a Couer d'Alene pharmacy.

On Friday, Dylan and I met up with Larry and Heather Trefry for breakfast. Mommy stayed home to get some more time to get better. Daddy and Dylan picked up Mommy and then headed to Glen and Ellen Anderson's house. Daddy shot clay pigeons with his new shot gun, and Mark Anderson and his buddy shot an assault rifle and a British WWII rifle.

We then met up with Nana and Papa at their home. We then all drove up to a buffet lunch on the North end of Spokane. We headed back to Post Falls in the evening so that I could practice basketball with Rob Soumas, his brother-in-law Shane, and his friend Russ for Hoopfest.

On Saturday, I rode with Rob to downtown Spokane for our first 3-on-3 game at 8 AM. Lynette and Jamie later joined us downtown, and we met up with Tim and Brittany. The tournament draws 25,000 players and thousands of spectators. Our team won one game and lost two games, so we were out of the tournament on Saturday evening.

After the tournament, we headed to Larry and Heather's house for a BBQ. We were able to hang out with more of our friends from Spokane, and some of them got to meet Dylan for the first time.

On Sunday morning, we met up with Nana and Papa at Denny's. The meal spanned several hours, partly because of slow service, and partly because Dylan apparently did not like Denny's. He cried the first time and Mommy and Daddy went out to the air-conditioned car to feed him. We returned and Daddy scarfed down the main part of his breakfast before having to take the again-crying Dylan back out to the car.

After breakfast, which didn't finish until past lunch time, we headed up to Bank's Lake/Steamboat Rock near the Grand Coulee Dam. We arrived around 5 PM, and headed into Stealth and Badass's home-on-wheels (a really nice fifth wheel). Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't working...

So this was the attempted solution to the heat problem. It wasn't working too well, though, because the thermometer showed the temperature inside the fifth wheel to be over 90 degrees.

Dylan slept for a few minutes, but he woke up from being too warm...

So he ended up taking a bath in the fifth wheel shower. He seemed to like it.

Here is a view of Steamboat Rock. We left Monday morning at about 7:15. We made it to Kennewick before Dylan needed to eat. We then made it to Hood River before our next stop, and it was 100 degrees there. We then made it to Hillsboro, OR, where it was even hotter--104 degrees! Gracie and Harley, who have been staying with my parents in Hillsboro, got to meet the new addition to the family for the first time, and they were very intrigued.

Our vacation continues until Thursday. We will keep you posted.
